Prolific alt pop singer/songwriter Elliot Lee has just unleashed their latest emotive song and music video. Called "Easy To Be You", the song is a dedication to the LGBTQIA+ community to which Elliot Lee is a proud member of.
With "Easy To Be You", Elliot Lee pens a letter about struggling with self image, most specifically the identity of being non-binary and society's views of femininity and masculinity. Lyrics including, "you don't understand how it feels / cause its so easy to be you / to not care about the things you say or do / you don't feel the pain I feel / I'll feminize to fit into a standard / but that's not me / and I really can't stand her" show just how painful it is to feel different from others and how trying to conform into a category just brings about suffering. Sonically, "Easy To Be You" features a stunning stadium-worthy chorus featuring Elliot's passionate vocals. Stirring piano chords and atmospheric moody landscapes are also standouts in this important track. The music video filmed by Alexa San Ronan features Elliot alone in a dark room singing directly into the camera showing their vulnerable self to the world. At the end a powerful moment of rain drenches Elliot as they tear up in the camera.
