Canadian teen D.I.Y. phenomenon AVIV has returned with a new folk pop single. Called "Jimmy's House", the song is the first of the year from this rising artist following her 2022 critically acclaimed album DROWNING IN THE CULTURE.
With "Jimmy's House", AVIV contemplates the deep emotional upheaval that can come with being physically apart from your lover. Feelings of disappointment, anxiety and jealousy, can occur and one can feel lost when their significant other is away. Lyrics including, "where are you / panic near the water / I can't help it / I let these empty thoughts eat me alive / I get lost in certain feelings," show just how intense these emotions can be and how codependence is not the best way forward. Sonically, "Jimmy's House" features delicate piano over folk-dipped acoustic guitar, The real highlight is AVIV's pristine vocals singing irresistible melodies that are full of heart and fervor. "Jimmy's House" is a tender and emotionally driven musical moment, and another standout in AVIV's growing catalogue.
AVIV is a 17-year old singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist hailing from Toronto, Canada. The young rising star began making her own music during the pandemic inspired by the likes of Radiohead, Elliot Smith and Lorde. Last year she hit the road for the first time performing stadiums opening for Imagine Dragons. With "Jimmy's House", she makes a welcome return and we can't wait to hear what is next.
