Canadian producer Newselph is definitely not on to sleep on his oars and with more than a handful of projects under his belt, he returns with his latest yet titled If It Ain't Broke, Remix It, a compilation of remixes of songs from his label mates under Illect records. Tapping into the spirit of legendary producers such as Pete Rock, Erick Sermon and Buckwild, Newselph carries on the tradition with his knack for smooth jazzy/soul chops layered over soft and sometimes punchy boom-bap drum grooves. The lead single "Those Were The Days Remix" dips into nostalgic sounds with warm moody keys, airy horn stabs and sparsely arranged grooves with UK rappers K.I.N.E.T.I.K. and BREIS, share some of their memorable childhood experiences. From fat laces, arcades, video games, and handwritten letters, the trio takes listeners back to a simpler time way before social media.
"Those Were The Days Remix" is the focus single from Newselph's If It Ain't Broke Remix It remix LP, a 10-track body of work that sees the producer reworking a number of select joints from the Illect catalogue. Guest appearances on the album include Sivion, Sojourn, MidCentury Modern, Ozay Moore, Dre Murray, DJ Because, and many more.
