Sir Jude have unveiled their brooding new album Revelations in the wake of a remix of their track "Madonna" and the darkly addictive singles "Preach" and "Madonna."
Having enlisted Maxim of The Prodigy as a collaborator, "Preach" fuses distinct electronica with Sir Jude cinematic, larger than life pop sound, creating an anthemic yet haunting track with introspective sensibilities. A gritty take on an alt-pop sound, pulsating bass and beats propel the track forward, transporting the listener to running with the wolves and ethereal planes.
Madonna takes on a dance-worthy, almost strutting, approach, keeping within the dark realm of Sir Jude's sound. Reflecting on religion and guilt, a prominent theme of the album, Sir Jude shares:
"Throughout my life I’ve struggled with internalised misogyny and to some extent, catholic guilt. Revelations was a way for me to challenge those standards, and dissect how those parts of my life make me the person I am. With that, comes this fear or challenge to stay connected to who the person I was. I found myself on this journey through selfhood and acceptance, but I know that it is a constant and evolving journey; it’s a process that I’ll always circle back to mend.”
The album has been a long time coming for Australian artist Sir Jude, who released the EP Dreamlands back in 2020 to ample press support and rave review from a loyal fan base and beyond.
“I want this album to be the soundtrack to anyone who is at a standstill in their life and is desperate to challenge or break the emotional barriers that tradition and society corners them into”
