Manchester six-piece Freeda are back with a new indie-banger "Chasing Yesterday." Only formed in 2017, the band have picked up a strong fan base, resulting in multiple sold out shows at impressive venues such as Deaf Institute and Manchester Academy 3 as well as hitting the lineup of Y Not?, 110 Above and Tramlines festivals, and taking it in their stride. Their sound is becoming more and more unique with nods to different genres, presenting a breezy indie-pop offering that is meant for the summertime.

"Chasing Yesterday" features their signature sunshine-drenched indie pop as they explore modern romance. Bright and uplifting, the track's rhythm section creates an infectious feel as the drums and bass work hand in glove to create a groove that sets a strong framework in place. Heartwarming synths and chorus-soaked guitars fluctuate between each other, creating the upbeat tone that is a staple to their sound. The lead vocals sit perfectly on top with their minimal but effective tone providing the track with a tinge of melancholy.

Speaking about the release they reveal: “The song is about a glimpse of better times after coming to terms with a breakdown in relationship. It’s about coming to terms with a broken relationship and acknowledging how hard you try you cannot relive the past.”

Having already picked up a lot of hype, Freeda have a whole host of achievements to their name already including: Top 5 on the iTunes Alternative Chart, Radio play on Radio X, BBC Introducing (Track of the Week), Amazing Radio, XS Manchester and Sirius XM as well as gaining over 300,000 total streams on Spotify alone. Already established as one to watch, they’re still continuing to stride forward in 2022 with a bunch of new tunes on the way.

Freeda are improving with every release as they settle and mold their unique offering. With this in mind I can’t wait to see where they’ll take this – and it’s one to follow for sure!
