Award-winning Nigerian musician Skales is one of Africa’s most treasured musical heavyweights, with his own unique sound that has found the perfect medium between afrobeats and electronic dance music. He has worked with the likes of Major Lazer, Nicki Minaj, and Burna Boy. He got his start on the EME label, alongside Wizkid.
As Skales kicks off his European summer tour, he delivers the visuals for his new club banger, titled "Say You Bad (Remix)". Produced by Eardrumz and DTAC, "Say You Bad (Remix)" is the first taste of what to expect from Skales’ upcoming Sweet Distractions deluxe album. The track utilizes elements of the amapiano sound with some dancehall infused into it. From the hypnotic horns, moody textures, and head-nodding drum grooves, the track sees the singer waxing lyrical about how beautiful African women are while showing off his catchy melodic flow, sing-along lyrics, and smooth vocal delivery. Rising star and "No Wahala" crooner 1da Banton brings the glorious dance track home, with a unique melodic performance of his own.
The single also comes with a captivating music video directed by Gorilla Boy, who has also worked with the likes of Rema, Naira Marley, and Reekado Banks, among others. The visual sure taps into the energy of the track, and make use of scenic performance shots of Skales with cinematic lighting as he is beset on all sides by dancers. 1da Banton's appearance comes in the middle, and we see him riding shotgun with an unknown woman on a midnight escapade. At the end both Skales and Banton are united in a carefree shot that captures their natural fun-filled demeanor.
