Bay Area act Isaiah Mostafa delves into roots and refuge on "Freemotions" [Video]

Bay Area creative Isaiah Mostafa drops hypnotic production “Freemotions”—an intricately layered offering that combines woozy instrumentals and soft beats with honeyed vocals that weave a tale on freedom. Accompanied by a transportive music video that take us back into Mostafa’s old neighborhood in South Berkeley, the track is a soothing wash of sonics that remind us that we’re safe.

Infusing with confidence to be ourselves among people who love us, the track is intimately connected to human relationships yet hides away deeper themes of roots and refuge centred around the gentrification that pushed the singer’s family out of The Bay. A seemingly sensual production, “Freemotions,” is at its heart a nostalgic commemoration of home, founded on gentle vocal lines and candid visuals.

A track that was produced as part of the Oakland act’s 37 Week Challenge where he produced, mixed, mastered and dropped a new song every Monday for 37 weeks straight, “Freemotions,” brims with intent and introspection embedded in lush, earworm soundscapes. Having found his niche with psychedelic, wellness-conscious music in 2020, the imaginative act moves forward in his career with purposeful slices of R&B, neo-soul and pop.
