Toronto's pop queen RALPH shares her latest igniting single "Gasoline." A delicate piano ballad underscoring her powerful vocals, the single is a soaring love affair of the past.
A patchwork of emotions, "Gasoline" weaves pain and longing into one roaring single. Despite its original destiny to be a songwriting exercise, "Gasoline" may be one of RALPH's best tracks to showcase her incredible talent. Its slow-burning, emotion-brimming melodies leave you reflecting on your own pains, offering a bittersweet comfort whilst encouraging the tears to flow. Yet, while RALPH's songwriting abilities have never needed to be questioned, this single leaves us yearning for those Adele-deep emotions to be unearthed into more graceful odes to reflection.
Writing the track four years ago at a songwriting camp in Nicaragua, RALPH says: "[It was written] during a period where I was also deeeeep in my feelings. I told my writing group 'No one should ever love me, cause I’ll burn them down…my love’s like gasoline.' And that was it. I’ve never felt so connected or attached to a song in my life, and I’m forever grateful for my family and friends who texted me the word 'gasoline' in the hopes I would listen up and save this one from the song cemetery."
As we say thanks to those who saved the predestined end to "Gasoline," we're about to also get deep into our feelings and cry to RALPH's vocal tones. A pure gem.
