Canadian singer-songwriter Miranda Joan has unveiled her latest existential-themed single and accompanying visuals. Entitled "Home", the relaxed tune highlights the singer's whispering soulful vocals over tranquil synths, colorful piano and layered melodies. During quarantine, with all the craziness in the world, listeners can relate to her message of solace in whatever people call "home". For Joan, it was to return to her roots from leaving hectic NYC to coming back to Vancouver, Canada where she grew up and her family still resides. The talented performer filmed her latest music video in the vast landscape outside of her hometown showing listeners her vulnerable side of how she copes during hard times. With loneliness and unpredictability being so present, Joan reminds us to look inward and contemplate what brings us peace.
Miranda Joan started to release music in 2017 and quickly became a fixture in the live music scene in NYC performing alongside powerhouses including Shawn Mendes and Andy Grammer among others. Influenced by the likes of Stevie Wonder, Erykah Badu and Carol King, she seamlessly melds soul, jazz, folk and pop for a unique sound all her own. Her vocals are warm, raspy and emotive, striking comparison to Amy Winehouse and Janis Joplin.
"Home" is off of her upcoming full-length album set for release later this year. Take a watch to Miranda Joan's "Home" and connect to your own roots.
