Rising, multi-talented artist Asi Kemera delivers her first single for 2021 “honey bb” alongside Seiji Oda.
The new single follows her debut EP Daydream which dropped last year, continuing to draw on her dreamy vocal croons that set her apart from the rest. Boasting angelic and ethereal tones, Kemera's creativity in "honey bb" shines through from the production all the way to the aesthetics as a singer-songwriter, instrumentalist, producer and illustrator, flooding the senses and transporting listeners to a tranquil summers day road trip.
Immersing every inch of her soul into every note, Kemera channels her Gemini personality on a lyrical narrative that flows between dominant and submissive perspectives. Seiji Oda lends his complimentary vocals to Kemera’s soft harmonies, whilst brisk drum patterns and 90s synth chords anchor "honey bb" to a compelling groove that drifts between rnb, lo-fi, electronica and soul.
As a multi-instrumentalist, Kemera's knowledge from playing guitar, bass and piano paired with her influence of 70s music creates a distinct sound that she describes as “as pretty and feminine as possible… sensual and soft.” Also taking inspiration from rock, Bollywood and Ethiopian music, Kemera's broad palette adds layers to her work, inviting listeners on a genre bending discovery. Only 20 years old, Asi Kemera has already crafted a unique and evolving artistry, demonstrating she has many strings to her bow as she stands firmly in her own lane.
