Cutting their teeth over the last 12 months, Brighton quartet Public Body are putting their witty lyricism to the test on their latest gritty offering "Naughty On My Bike". Littered with stellar guitar riffs and exhibiting Weller-tinged vocals, the track is one that needs to be played loud. Very loud.
Claiming they "don't care for walking anymore" – me neither to be honest – the off-kilter post-punks critique the UK public transport system. Stating their frustrations with transportation costs and speed, "Naughty On My Bike" is a punchy number littered with jagged licks and riotous drum grooves. Guitarist Theo Verney explains further: "It's a song dedicated to the humble bicycle. Naughty On My Bike openly criticises the public transport system as being over priced and sluggish. Walking, being the green option, is slower still. In cycling we find balance between speed and convenience."
Public Body are quite clearly the straight-talking, new faces of environmental health. But I doubt you'll find them on a Boris bike any time soon.
