Prince Club and Poupon – two of Canada's brewing deep house bantams touch swords on Snatch! Records to pump out tracks that place beyond the gold. SNATCH025 opens up with "Platinum", leery leads and smug commentary from Notorious B.I.G. the track is a strip-down of the genre to its core. A bonafide loud mouth boosting himself on one of their most reserved beats yet, it may seem polar and unfitting but the attitudes churn effortlessly into a humble swagger. Next on the tracklist, "La Nuit" brings out the layers of tech house nonsense both of these acts are known for with a bobbing bassline kicked around by pompous percussion. But it's canny sampling in track 3 that drags any adept house head towards this release. Scissored from the 90s classic by Ruffneck, "Everybody" is an echo of the good times and hopefully the resurgence of a genre with lavish acceptance.
