The "it factor": a vague term for a certain star quality that can be few and far between in the saturated sphere of emerging artists. Often artists will spend their first few releases finding their feet and getting a better understanding of themselves and their music, although, every now and again you'll come across an artist that stuns straight out of the blocks, and in the case of British talent ABISHA, the "it factor" is abundantly clear. Since emerging in 2017, she has smartly bided her time, plying her ever-expanding audience with a mere five singles, yet still managing to catch all the right ears, all while her debut project remains elusive.
Still carving a sonic niche that's distinctly hers, each of these singles are both individualistic and packed with personality shooting off in multiple directions, and it's clear that this alt-pop starlet is excelling at every turn; now sharing her latest, "Love Like This". Subtle throwbacks to early-00s pop with the acoustic guitar arpeggios that twinkle amongst an emotive R&B chord progression, laying a dutiful foundation for her silken harmonies to wash over you with each passing cadence.
The home-video style visual is an extension of the personality that she so easily portrays in her music, with relatable and warm scenes, shot and edited in a way reminiscent of Yoni Lappin and Mura Masa's works.
Expect ABISHA to soon rise to the top of the pile, as she's well on her way.
