The current music industry's fallacies perhaps derives from an overabundance of production—an unwarranted amount of free-for-all consumption. While quantity seemingly befits the present, ANNA maintains the purity and raw grit of her techno creations, solidifying craft with quality. The Barcelona-based DJ and producer is the embodiment of perseverance and talent, and one who now is traversing the soundscape with her latest offering Galactic Highways.
Fresh from her collaboration with Kittin in Forever Ravers, the Drumcode release of Galactic Highways reaffirms the techno maestro's insistence on top-notch delivery. Title track "Galactic Highways" is an expedition into the deep crevasses of bass; propelled by an arresting peak-time riff and and robust drum patterns, ANNA illuminates its infectious build for a cosmic burst as its climax—giving way to a head-bumping narrative. "Dimensions" follow as another powerful track, a brain scrambling concoction of blistering acid and undulating bass for a through and through dramatic finish. Finally, "Phase Two" closes with its stirring, pad-laden melodies, driven by fluid lines that cascade over its punchy percussion.
ANNA first debuted on Drumcode with the irresistible groover "Portable Paradise", which highlighted last year's A-Sides Vol.7, setting up a busy year by playing many Drumcode events. This included a morning set at Space during WMC, two fiery gigs at Drumcode Festival and strong performances at the Drumcode takeover at Resistance in Ibiza and Sonar.
