Van Houten share their second single "Running Scared" via Clue Records. In preparation for their self-titled debut, the Leeds-based quintet are drip feeding us evocative tracks leaving us wanting more ahead of September 13. Brimming with breezy synths and a soothing acoustic guitar, the track delivers an invitation to discuss the depths of depression.
With lyrics like "waiting for the happy ending, seems like waiting for the world to start", lead singer Louis Sadler draws on the feelings of isolation that many feel during depression. For such a youthful band, their ability to write heartfelt, emotive, and incredibly honest lyrics is a factor that makes them such a bloody great band.
Speaking about the album, Louis Sadler said: “When making the album, we were able to finally sculpt the vintage Hi-Fi sound that we have always been searching for but have never been able to achieve. The title is Van Houten because this is the first work we have created that truly represents our band. This new sound is the true sound of our band."
Van Houten's debut album is out September 13 via Clue Records.
