Ascending Dallas-based beatmaker capshun continues to impress with his newest cut "Rising." Out now on the artist's Bonsai Collective, "Rising" exists in a outlier space that isn't quite future bass and isn't quite trap – and that eschewing of traditional boundaries of genre is something we applaud at EARMILK.
Spacey samples unite with delicate synths and a metallic low end, exploding to a satisfying negative space drop. Pairing the beauty of future bass without the pandering, and the swagger of trap without the over-the-top bravado, capshun has landed on something that satisfies. It lives in two distinct worlds, quite like it's creator. “'Rising' is special to me," explains capshun. "Similar to my song 'Solace' it represents my transition from my military lifestyle into the civilian world. I had a hard time when I came back home adjusting to everything, and now I finally feel comfortable and I am rising from that low point in my life and finding myself again.”
With support from the likes of Alexander Lewis, San Holo, and UZ, as well as noted tastemakers Majestic Casual and Heroic, capshun's star is on the rise.
