Wellington New Zealand-based alt R&B artist George Young's new record "Ice Blocks" caught our ears with its laid back, unassuming energy. The soulful record displays Young's smooth vocals over an uptempo funk-tinged backdrop built on slinky guitars, basslines and snappy rhythm to match. His vocals sure have an offbeat but alluring style with a splash of nostalgia behind them.
As a budding artist, George Young has opened for local players such as Drax Project, Thomas Oliver, Louis Baker, and others. He is currently working on new music which will see the light of day later this year. "Ice Blocks" is taken from his new 4 track Mental pt 1 EP.
