The diverse energies of the three artists culminate on “Strawberry Kisses” for a dreamy, soulful track about the realization of falling in love.
Bridges’ production sets the tone for the song with its unhurried pace and angular bass line that paves the way for Guru Ma’s airy vocals. In the lead up the hook, she describes the early stages of a romance, writing, “That’s when we started smoking, kissing, catching feelings / maybe I found the one, because she tastes like strawberry kisses.” Even with the sentimental lyrics and title, the song features a level of complexity from Bridges’ production and Guru Ma’s understated vocal delivery that all reflects a love that runs deeper than the surface of flowery imagery.
