The music of Toronto-based dream-pop, alt-pop artist Rosemary Fairweather, is often swathed in a reverie of light pastels and hazy emotions, dipped in robust intimacy; she's living proof that dream-pop doesn't have to be a passive affair. With a repertoire of stunning songs, Fairweather will be releasing her album Heavenly: A Second Collection of Songs in 2019. In anticipation of this, EARMILK is proud to exclusively premiere "MTV" off of the album, with official release being slated for October 26th.
Instantly infectious, Fairweather's breathy vocals reverberate with sweetness, lyrics dripping with intense purity. Soft chords progressively move the melody along, driven by nicely-paced drums and a touch of soft-rock vibes. Capturing her angelic inflections perfectly, "MTV" is a beautiful ode to the songstress' energizing lyricism that finds its way through the downtempo. Overall entrancing, Fairweather puts us under in a spell, encapsulating us in a world of her emotions through airy vocal hooks.
Speaking on the track, Fairweather notes: "‘MTV’ was written very late at night, after I had been watching hours of footage from programs past like Post Modern. I was particularly excited to find one of my idols – Andy Partridge of XTC – hosting an episode, and felt there was a pop song sitting in that feeling."
