Palace Hopes For “Heaven Up There” With Their Divine Single

UK indie rock act Palace return to their heavenly roots with “Heaven Up There.” It’s been two years since the trio released their deeply layered debut LP, So Long Forever. With “Heaven Up There,” Palace makes all the right choices as they land inside an ethereal rock landscape for those to find true comfort within. The seven-minute plus expedition is spacious, but not too meandering as it drifts with dreamy intentions along the way. If this is a glimpse into what their sophomore record may sound like, then sign me up.

On “Heaven Up There,” Palace forges a path they started four years ago with their debut EP, Lost in the Night. The three-piece act once again becomes reflective, balancing the notions of life and death, with the pursuit of something with deep purpose to achieve. The introspective single displays the band’s adept guitars and Wyndham’s wistful vocals, pleading with the world to let him know “Is it heaven up there?”

The alliance of Leo Wyndham, Matt Hodges, and Rupert Turner make up Palace. The friends first came onto the scene with their 2014’s Lost in the Night EP. They followed up with 2015’s sophomore EP, Chase The Light, before gracing us with that majestic debut record, So Long Forever, the year after. No word yet on their next album, but the group will embark on a brief tour next February in the UK.
