Welcome to THE CLUB. A weekly dose of your favourite house, progressive house, electro house, and everything-in-between.. Each week I'll bring you a selection of my favourites from the week from the best producers in the world. I'll try to feature an emerging artist or two that catches my eye more than most, so make sure to keep your eye out for weekly servings of the biggest and best names in house music worldwide.
In 2011 we saw the rise of names like Avicii, Hardwell, Zedd, and Nicky Romero. These guys consistently pumped out big room bangers the entire year. There was rarely an instalment of The Club that didn't feature one or all of them, and I'm glad to know that some of the biggest producers and DJs in the scene today are the most talented as well. People can hate on Avicii as much as they want for becoming so popular, but the fact remains that his productions are flawless; meant to build people up with such uplifting melodies and then destroy the dance floor with killer bass lines layered with those epic piano riffs overtop. Nicky Romero takes the progressive elements that Avicii has built a career out of and infuses them with some of the dirtiest sounds in electro house.
Hardwell and Zedd get the nod for the biggest drops in electro house. When Cobra was first released I couldn't believe the energy it had. Then Shave It came out and I started to really get excited for where these guys are headed with their sounds. We'll see lots of these big names on the list today, and make sure to check back for the final 3 parts to this series for more of their production wizardry.
Presenting the top 100 electro/progressive house tracks of 2011. No order for this list, just a collection of my favourites from the biggest year for electronic dance music to date. Feel free to share some suggestions for part 2 in the comments or hit me up on Twitter or Facebook.
