Bohnes, the new solo project by Alex DeLeon, has been pushing creative boundaries backed by modern pop hooks and grungy guitar play. He recently released his second single, “My Friends,” produced by Matt Johnson of Matt and Kim, and today he shares a staggering visual portrayal of the track for EARMILK. Sharing the inspiration of the single, Alex remarked:
“Most people attempt to ostracize their demons which leaves them room to come back with a vengeance. This song is about shaking hands with them, getting to know them, and giving them a tip of the hat. They will always be faster than you, so it’s better to have them on your team than to try to run from them or outlast them. They don’t sleep.”
In the video, we see the protagonist in Tokyo, being ostracized while trying to communicate with people and his surroundings.
“The video for “My Friends” was shot in over 25 locations in Tokyo, Japan including Golden Gai, Piss Alley, Shibuya Crossing, Tokyo Tower, and the Red Light District. The video represents ostracism of those who are different and is a discussion on the definition of beauty. No matter how bad things are, no matter how dark the clouds are in your mind, or how lonely you feel, there is someone out there for you. There is someone out there feeling the same things. There is someone suffering like you. There is someone out there looking for someone just like you. You are never alone. Your ugliness is beautiful to someone. You just have to find them.”
