With an ethereal voice and lush, downtempo electronics, Erin Lang's new project Foundling reveals its introductory single "New Years", a peek into their upcoming album. The Canadian singer/songwriter, previously started with a band called Feral & Stray and is now moving forward toward darker sensibilities with this new foray into electronic pop.
Lang's voice is haunting and the track is a distinct departure from Feral & Stray's acoustic folk—"New Years" is just as moody, but more witch-like and experimental in both lyric and sound. The sonorous percussion creates a depth and tension in the track, and the lyrics provide beautiful celestial imagery. If this first single is anything to go by, Foundling will be a surefire hit.
