Othrship, a new seven piece outfit from Sydney, Australia, are crashing onto the scene with their single "Cuckoo". Eclectic instruments in tow (three horns and a flute!), songwriter Henry Manuell uses his ensemble to blend acoustic and electric. "Cuckoo" is a unique sound not often heard in the music of the day, and it takes a hearty soul to be able to release something without mimicking the current trend. Of the track, Manuell says:
Cuckoo is a note to myself, almost like a "Dear Diary" it reminds me to take a chance when the going's good.
The electronics are vaguely influenced by Bowie and the prog rock of the seventies, and this sound can only get more interesting as the band develops.
