Most heads are well aware of Mass Appeal's Rhythm Roulette video series that shows some of the illest producers in the world make an improvised beat from three randomly selected records. Today, Steve Spiffler — an emcee/producer best known for his Chance The Rapper-cosigned 10 Days of Acid and Coloring Books tape — is premiering his own "Spiffler-ized" version of Rhythm Roulette to prove he's perfectly capable of chopping up samples on the spot like a Costco food demonstrator.
After pulling his beanie down over his eyes and blindly snagging three vinyls, Spiffler hits Sound Appeal Studio in his native Stockton, CA and seeks out the savory ingredients for his beat jambalaya. The first two records are a no-go, but he finds some magic in the third joint that he uses to piece together a couple of shmangers.
After watching Steve's Rhythm Roulette flick above, be sure to peep out the finished instrumentals below and get that head piece bobbin'. And remember: this is only round 1.
