“Chase Me” serves as part of the soundtrack to the movie Baby Driver which premiered on June 23, 2017. The Danger Mouse-produced track has elements of light-hearted boom bap and lyricism which are heavenly complemented by the semi-comical and action-packed visuals. The music video begins with the main character anxiously waiting for his accomplices who seem to have just robbed a bank, in broad daylight nonetheless. Once EL-P and Danger Mouse step foot in the candy red Subaru, the chase is on.
The setting then quickly changes to night time and we have traded in our previous duo for Atlanta’s own Big Boi and Run the Jewels who seem to only give the boys in blue more trouble in the chase down. “You ain’t gonna get that money back” raps Big Boi on the bridge before going in on his own verse. Shortly after all three MCs finish bodying the Danger Mouse instrumental, EL-P hands off the illegal stacks to Big Boi as he begins to drive off into the night without a worry. Safe to say the trio can confidently continue yelling out “Chase Me.”
