Perfect for a dark, rainy day and a cup of coffee is Holy Boy’s most recent release “Lay Your Hands”. Holy Boy is the brain child of Norwegian-born, LA-based Helene Alexandra Jaeger. Layer upon layer of spacious, modulating synths create a mystifying and atmospheric arena for Jaeger’s velvety, nonchalant vocals to soar and reflect in an entrancing ambience.
“Lay Your Hands” is a beautiful taste of Holy Boy’s debut self-titled EP, due out late June via Native Habitat. The EP was recorded at Pool Studios in London by Ben Hillier (Depeche Mode, Blur, The Horrors), and is a collection of tragic outlier love songs, free spoken word associations and well crafted rock exploring the space between life and death, melancholy and existential dread. With “Lay Your Hands” as the launch pad, I can see Holy Boy rising quickly through the ranks of the indie-pop world in the near future.
