We've covered Lenis before in her quirky indie-electronic work alongside Zuma on "Ruby" and "All Nite". The songstress based out of San Diego delivers a hybrid of soul-infused tunes with a fun electronic finish. Lenis' silky vocals are calming as she sings lyrics revolving love, lust and lost. Her buttery vocals are perfectly fitting for Zuma's productions, encouraging a bubbly yet feisty atmosphere in her sound. On her latest original, "Told Him", Lenis has given us a taste of attitude and drama in her lyricism. The warm vibes found in the production cleverly juxtapose with her forward lyrics. "Told Him" is overall a perky feel good song, pulling us in to dive in deeper into the narrative. The organic overcoat found in the track's sound design coupled with Lenis' delectable vocals creates a captivating contrast.
“When I receive beats I start humming along to feel it out. Since the beat was bubbly I thought it would be interesting to contrast it with some “f u” lyrics. I think this track is special because it allows listeners to relate to the song whether they are in a depressed or good mood because of the way it musically and lyrically contrasts. Unlike a lot of songs that were made specifically geared towards one particular emotion, I feel like my listeners can decide how they want to hear my song.” – Lenis
