I may be biased (scratch that, I'm definitely biased), but I can't think of a more forward-thinking genre in electronic music than future bass. No other genre seems to borrow from so many other genres and reinvent itself as frequently or as dramatically as these artists do. And quite frankly, no one is doing it better than LA-based DJ/producer Hex Cougar. We've covered the up-and-coming talent a couple of times on the site already, so regular EARMILK visitors should know to expect banging-ass trap/future tunes from the dude. And trust me, his new single "Afterlife" does not disappoint.

Featuring the vocal touch of singer Jarell Perry, Hex drops more feels in this track than some of his past work. But fret not! The song still contains all the bass-throttling low-end basslines mixed with well-sequenced melodies, all of which can't help but make you feel some type of way. So definitely check out the track above, and check below for more links on your new favorite DJ.
The track is from Shifty Rhythms and is available now on Spotify, Apple Music, and everywhere else.
