You may know her as the angelic voice behind many electronic hits, but now Amba Shepherd steps up to the plate as a solo artist by premiering a beautiful lyric video for her single “Prelude (Rest In Peace)” via EARMILK.
Remember that one singalong anthem you screamed at the top of your lungs at that festival that one time? It was probably a vocal from Amba. The Australian songstress has been a staple in dance music for quite some time now, as she is the lyricist behind Hardwell’s “Apollo” and Porter Robinson’s “Vandalism,” among many others. With this sultry tune, she upholds her reputation for poignant musical arrangements and delivers a melodic stunner. The video only bolsters her legacy, portraying a picturesque journey through a trippy kaleidoscopic lens, with the emotive soundscapes of “Prelude (Rest In Peace)” serving as an ideal backdrop.
Regarding the video, Amba had this to say:
“This record is a little bit unusual and has a slightly other-worldly quality about it, and I really wanted to capture that with this video. Something that would highlight both the timeless nature of the track and the fragility of the lyrics. The lyrics are about the death of a relationship and for me nature has such an amazing healing energy, and is a very powerful metaphor. The ancient wonders of the mountains, the powerful ocean seas, the wisdom deep in jungle terrain all represent the emotion and restorative vibes of this song. Director Mitch Mey was my creative copilot and editor on this project and was a dream to work with.”
