Let's take a trip back in time, back to a time when the dance music scene was still functioning a bit under the radar, and when genre classifications weren't a signal to immediately rebel against the establishment. Artists of the moment might have been BT, Benny Benassi, Tiesto and Morgan Page, as progressive house dominated dance music's rise to fame. Now, you'll see progressive house replaced with "big room" in most discussions, or labeling on Beatport. "Progressive" is now a term used only when talking about artists like Grum or Eric Prydz. Though people might want to run away from them, there's no getting away from genres. It's human nature to categorize things. So we evolve, we create new sounds. And artists that saw their biggest successes recede and adapt.
You might remember Adam K & Soha from their many iconic hits together, tracks that remain fan favorites years after their release. Their remix of Kaskade's "4 AM" is a classic that every fan of dance should know and get a warm feeling inside when they hear it. But the last we heard from the guys together, it was 2013, after just about a decade of the two working together. Since then, Adam K has gone on to explore radio-friendly crossover sounds, but today they've reunited on a remix of FWLR & Kinley's "Never Coming Home." A nice update from the last we heard from them, "Never Coming Home" sees an updated house feel while also maintaining their prog roots. It's out now via Hotbox Digital on Beatport.
