“A step further into making house music with zero boundaries” is how London artist T.Williams describes the second installment of his Sodality series, Sodality Vol. 2. The four track EP provides a snapshot of his current taste in music and is overflowing with a myriad of different influences on his style, past and present.

The EP opens with “The Hive,” one of two tracks on the release co-produced with James Jacob. What would be normally considered conflicting percussive beats and falling synths are expertly weaved together providing a nice introduction to the release. “Mississauga” opens with a seemingly live percussion beat not heard in popular music for decades that is quickly juxtaposed with synthetic synths and a normal “normalized” house beat. The two sides find a comfortable equilibrium, leaving the listener enthralled. “Lacuna Pursuit,” the second track co-produced with James Jacob, sets its tone with an infectious jazz influenced percussion and bass that’s immediately underscored by a driving beat and an ever-expanding synth, providing direction not normally seen within house music. In the closing track “Depths,” T.Williams truly does take one deeper, one bar at a time. The bass takes on a complete fullness only momentarily losing its inviting softness throughout the track.
The laying required to make such a complex yet coherent EP is worthy of note—the melding of such seemingly conflicting influences in every track is remarkable. This is definitely one EP you should not miss. Pick up a copy on iTunes today.
