Young Chop, one of the architects of the explosive popularity of Chicago's Drill music scene and high profile producers, has had enough of being behind the scenes. After many successful production credits, Chop has decided to jump in the booth himself and show that is multi-talented. On King Chop, he recent full length album, he rhymes on a number of tracks. While his new found skills may come as a abrupt revelation to fans not keeping a close eye on his career, ultimately it proves to be a solid choice and a role he sounds comfortable adopting.

Chop's latest single, "Around My Way," features two fellow Second City MCs: King 100 James and Vic Mensa. The track is quite the Windy City affair; all three rappers appear to be set on making this a new South Side anthem. Although he is typically far removed from drill or tougher street tracks, Vic provides a solid hook and verse, which transitions smoothly into his counterparts verses. While Chop is tasked with succeeding an established rapper, the young producer extraordinaire holds his own. Fat Gang member, King 100 James comes last, but definitely not least; he provides a verse that is equally excitable and boisterous.

"Around My Way's" accompanying video is interesting in its simplicity. In a strange way, the video hearkens back to some of the green screen hip-hop videos of the 90s. There are a lot of fade ins and crazy effects that distort the performers faces. Vic turns from a shadow, to a human, and then to just a skeleton in a matter of seconds. All three dab their way through flames, to perfectly demonstrate that Chicago will always be the ones on top. Check out the video above to see "Around My Way" in all of its glory.
