Fans have been mourning the loss of Prince since the devastating news rocked the world on Thursday. Spin has reported that as of Friday, Prince holds all 15 of the best-selling songs on iTunes. It is also being reported that his collection The Very Best of Prince is expected to be the number one album on the Billboard 200 next week. Currently, the album has generated 85-100k in sales within less than a 24 hour period, with over 900k songs sold. The numbers are pretty incredible, but not unexpected.
Prince partnered with Tidal to stream his music exclusively through their service. It is unknown at this point how much that will effect his sales. Prince had four number 1 albums during his legendary career, and at one point, Purple Rain spent 24 consecutive weeks at number 1 on the charts.
