Lower East Side production and DJ duo The Knocks have made a name for themselves with disco and house music that seeks to remind us of dance music's simplicity and authenticity. Earlier this year, they released their So Classic EP, a strong base for their upcoming album and infectious music that of course, lends itself in a multitude of ways to be reworked into various legs of dance music. The latest track to go down that road is "Collect My Love," a retro disco track featuring the vocals of Alex Newell.
Today "Collect My Love" has its official remixes released, including those from Mat Zo and from Finnish wunderkind Lenno. We've been following Lenno for some years now, watching as his approach to melodic, complextro-inspired nu disco style has developed through releases like Wake Up, and working with artists like Dragonette. Here, Lenno has put a glittering, summery spin on "Collect My Love," with a simple, uplifting retro synth progression that when paired with Newell's vocals creates a sound that has a classic feel straight out of the early 1980s.
