Like many of my EARMILK colleagues and fellow music writers, I receive a lot of submissions each day. While many of the tracks end up sounding the same (sorry not sorry,) it's the stories that blow me away. One that caught my attetnion was Newcentz; to say that he had a rough upbringing would be an understatement. Growing up in West Baltimore, the 23 year old artist went through the ringer countless times. From doing time at 16 to recently losing his friend due to a senseless murder, he's faced hardships that most people wouldn't be able to endure.

Instead of letting his past dictate his future, Newcentz channeled the tragic moments he's gone through into music. The result of these efforts come through in "Heart So Cold," a track filled with spacey beats and hard hitting hooks. According to Centz, the end goal with his music is to give his three daughters the opportunity to succeed and achieve their dreams. The last thing he wants them to do is go through everything that has happened to him. Give "Heart So Cold" a listen and stay tuned for more from Newcentz.
