It's clear that Sharam Jey and Vanilla Ace know a good project when they see one. Seeing success in previous collaborations like last year's "Flash Rider," they've returned to Jey's record label, Bunny Tiger, for a two-track EP release, where both tracks fully represent the breadth in creativity that they stand for both individually and as a production team. The first, entitled "Shut 'Em Down," goes beyond the 4/4 beat and hip hop sampling we see often from Jey and his house music contemporaries, drawing from DMX's harder, grittier millenial anthem from 1998, "Ruff Ryders' Anthem." Mixed with an underlining, underground bass and some nu disco piano, the first track is undoubtedly a home run. The second, entitled "Music Flow" uses a bit more of a cryptic sampling, with heavier bass and an avant garde house combination of melody and synths. Rounding out the EP with a fresher look into the underground, you can check out an exclusive full stream of "Shut 'Em Down" below, and "Music Flow" which premiered via Insomniac earlier this week, and grab the EP on Beatport this week.
