It seems the Axwell-owned label has made a new mission to become a trusted source for introductions to brand new artists. Most recently, Axtone has introduced us to Whelan & Di Scala's latest artist alter-ego called CamelPhat, but today we've gotten a true introduction to an artist. And while we don't know much about the artist, we know that Shapov is debuting his music for the first time with a self-titled EP release through Axtone this week, and its sound is a real diversifier for the label.
Shapov is comprised of two tracks, where both show some real out of the box thinking. The first, "Party People," has a unique combination of old school Swedish progressive threads with acidic grittiness. Collaborating with M.E.G. & N.E.R.A.K. on the track, there is a hard style undertone that gives it a special freshness. "Disco Tufli" is another surprise, with French-inspired style that moves back and forth between rock and roll and electro in a smooth motion. Check out both tracks below.
