Recently EARMILK has been featuring the music of PIVOT Gang—a hip-hop collective based out of Chicago's West side. Primarily we have featured the work of PIVOT front man Saba, but we premiered IKON's track "Tap Water," which featured all of the members in PIVOT Gang: Joseph Chilliams, MFN Melo, and John Walt. Not to be confused with Tennessee artist Jon Waltz, Walt is featured on the hook of "Tap Water" and brings his own signature soulful panache to the track but that being said, the listener only gets a sampling of Walt's ability. Fortunately, the PIVOT Gang rapper recently released an absolutely terrific track titled "Pineapple Wildwood," which impeccably illustrates his talents as an artist.

The name of the track, "Pineapple Wildwood," is derived from the hood staple and the track does an excellent job of eliciting the sensation of one cruising through Chicago on an beautiful autumn's day. The soundscape, which is encompassed by bumping kicks paired with a marching band-esque snare hit and a charming jazz sample, composed by none-other-than aforementioned multi-talented PIVOT Gang front man Saba. The instrumental provides the perfect backdrop for Walt to flex his fervent, yet laid back, singing chops as he exclaims, "I got that pineapple wildwood/ And you know I'm feeling soulful, soulful".

If "Pineapple Wildwood" is an indication of what's to expect from Walt's debut project, Dinner With John that is due out sometime in 2015, than what we should be expecting is greatness. With that said, be sure to get your appetizer in the form of listening to "Pineapple Wildwood" below to hold you over till dinner.
