Ever since he can remember, Australian born Stuart Brander (aka illstrtd) has been infatuated with music. It first started with his love of hip hop and R&B music, and then spread into numerous different genres as his tastes grew and matured. He soon turned to writing and producing music, and for the last 7 years has been honing his craft in a number of genres, learning as much as he could from each one.
In 2012, Stuart started studying audio engineering, and while studying became fascinated with the upcoming beats scene, and started listening to artists like Tokimonsta, Hudson Mohawke, and Rustie, as well as his fellow Australians Flume and Wave Racer.
After falling in love with the future beats genre, he created the "illstrtd" moniker, and started creating the beats he makes today. Combining background in hip hop and R&B with electronic arrangements and sounds, he creates a fresh combination of R&B and hip hop, combined with chopped vocal samples, booming electronic drums and synths, which come together to create a unique, fresh sound.
illstrtd's latest release is a re-work of CHRVCHES "Gun" – he expertly flips the song into his own unique style and shows he's definitely a talent to watch out for in 2015.
