Scottish post-rock champions Mogwai are the textbook definition of a veteran band. With eight albums and countless other releases under their belt, they're showing no signs of slowing down; within the last year they've released a new album and a score to the French show Les Revenants, and now they've returned with a new EP, Music Industry 3. Fitness Industry 1. (They've always been the king of hilariously inane titles).
One of the new EP's highlights is "Teenage Exorcists," a rare instance of Mogwai playing a song with a fairly straightforward rock structure. Still, Stuart Braithwaite's guitar is as unmistakable as ever, toeing the line between beauty and power as only he can. The song has already been given some impressive visuals, courtesy of director Craig Murray. While the video is a slightly strange pairing for the song, it's beautiful nonetheless, depicting a woman bombarded by glittery shrapnel as she falls through a psychedelic oblivion.
Music Industry 3. Fitness Industry 1. is out Dec. 1 via their own Rock Action imprint. It also features remixes by Blanck Mass, Nils Frahm, and Pye Corner Audio.
