A few years back, Brainfeeder producer Teebs released Collections 01, a handful of tracks that didn't make it onto either of his two albums. Track one was titled "Just the Yellow Bits," while the final song was called "Yellow More New." Both tracks explored the same theme but in different ways, almost like the way an intro and outro sometimes function together. Now, as Teebs prepares another collection of "Ante Vos demos, E S T A R A b-sides, rarities, and remixes," he has shared the third chapter of his "Yellow" series, cleverly titled "Yellow Again."
"Yellow Again," a collaboration with Ages, once again opens with the same sleigh bell-esque percussion, but the melody this time comes courtesy of hushed acoustic instruments. While some artists couldn't get away with this kind of repetition, from Teebs it's welcome. Much like a series of his incredible paintings, the "Yellow" trilogy is evidence of Teebs consistently mining gold out of the same cold dirt. There's no official date yet for the upcoming collection, but apparently it will be a vinyl-only release, so dust off the old gramophone.
