Charli XCX wants to “Break the Rules”

Charli XCX has followed up "SuperLove" and "Boom Clap" with the punk-inspired "Break the Rules." The pop goes punk sound is nothing new for Charli, who has played and sung in the role of goth school girl since the beginning of her career. The formula brought critical success to her commercial debut, True Romance, and has helped make Icona Pop and Iggy Azalea household names. This time around, she's aiming to break through to mainstream success on her own terms with the forthcoming, Sucker.

Charli's party-hard lyrics pack a punch, as she purrs and gripes over the beat about skipping school, breaking rules and "getting wrecked." Steady drumming and bass riffs anchor the track as the beat builds towards the instantly catchy, synthesizer-heavy, Calvin Harris-esque chorus.

Sucker is out October 21 through Neon Gold/Atlantic Records, with contributions from heavy hitters StarGate, Weezer, John Hill and Vampire Weekend's Rostam Batmanglij. You can expect more hype-building track releases from Charli as Sucker approaches.
