Big K.R.I.T reigns supreme, hanging with Zeus on "Mt. Olympus" [Download]

Big K.R.I.T has followed his mega March by blessing us with a new track from the heavens of ancient Greek mythology. “Mt. Olympus” continues the Mississippi rapper’s big year which has seen him drop 10 features already. This new cut is unique in that it offers a taste of K.R.I.T’s next full length record. Production duties are handled independently for this one as a heavy, apocalyptic beat signals the end of the offseason for K.R.I.T’s commercial releases, his last album Live From The Underground dating back to the summer of 2012. Hot as hell from the offset, “Mt. Olympus” deserves in depth lyrical analysis with K.R.I.T’s country venom seeping through an onslaught of cinematic production involving plenty of bass and an infectious woodwind instrument.

“Now they wanna hear a country n**** rap, five albums in, I swear a country n**** snap’. Thought they wanted trap, thought they wanted bass, thought they wanted Molly, thought they wanted drank. F*** them n***** now they wanna hear a country n**** rap. Thought they wanted gold, thought they wanted shine, thought they wanted radio. B**** make up your mind”

Def Jam's K.R.I.T vents his frustrations concerning the lack of credit that he feels Southern rappers get and also lashes out at the infamous “Control” verse that he doesn’t consider to be a legitimate diss from Kendrick Lamar, despite being constantly reminded of his inclusion in the long list of rappers mentioned on the controversial track. Big K.R.I.T’s new album, Cadillactica, is expected to loom over of us like “Mt. Olympus” this fall.
