Amping up the sound tenfold, Geographer churn WATERS' summery and joyful song "Got To My Head" into a hard rocking, electronically infused punch to the face. Not typically thought of with an aggressive edge, San Francisco's Geographer are known for their melodic, synth based indie rock that, at most, will ease listeners to a slight head bop.
Also based out of the bay area, WATERS is the new endeavor from the former Port O'Brien frontman, Van Pierszalowski. Having had a great amount of success with Port O'Brien in the past, Van has carried this drive into WATERS, who have honed in on a more rock driven that is equally as playful.
Packed full of energy, Geographer's remix of "Got To My Head" will take you for a spin. Beginning with arpeggiated synths, the remix then proceeds to climb out of a cave, escalating until the song's chorus, which hits hard with cymbal crashes and powerful vocals. After scaling back and repeating this building process, the remix hits its first peak with a mix of broken up instrumentals and vocals that work together to form an oddly catchy rhythm. Working its way to the finale, the remix winds through a gasp-for-air break and plenty of effects. Signified by slowing down the lead vocal line nearly to a halt, the finale borrows all of the best elements of the remix to latch on the listener through its minute duration. Once the mix is over listeners will be happy to catchy a breath before coming back for more.
