Hurt Everybody's "Hella Lightning/Hella Swords" is absolute fire

Chicago needs to chill the fuck out. But not really. I'm just in awe at how much music has literally exploded out of the culturally rich city over the last few years. We've had our fair share of bigger stars including Lupe Fiasco and the more recent ones including Chance the Rapper, but the underground scene is fire. Straight lethal fire. Mick Jenkins, Jean Deaux, Vic Mensa, NoNameGypsy, Saba and Joey Purp are just a few names on the long list of talent, and now we've got another that we don't want you to sleep on.

Chicago based duo Hurt Everybody is comprised of rapper and producer Supa Bwe aka Frederick Apex, and 17-year-old hip hop artist Carl. Together, these two are a galactic force to be reckoned with. As Supa spits, he roars and exhibits the earthy undertones of his strong delivery. As Carl slips onto the track, he teases you with hints of his own Acid Rap-esque style, and as Carl kills the bridge, he teases you with hints of grainy, dark, futuristic ish that's reminiscent of Childish Gambino's "Zealots of Stockholm." This track has so many different elements that stand strong by their own merit, but together they form a crisp snapshot of the explosive minds behind Hurt Everybody.

Supa Bwe hits you with an unbelievable production game that shifts from the identifiable ringtone sample to a heavy bassline laced with ad libs while maintaining the duo's driving force: energy. The production, the stone cold lyrics, and the impeccable delivery are all laced with unapologetic energy. And in case you weren't sure of that, Supa reminds you as he unleashes his inner trap lord in the last minute.

Enjoy the 5 minutes and 26 seconds of gold below.
