I have to say, one of my favorite projects of this summer was Jaymes Young's Dark Star. An unknown talent, mesmerizing vocals, and dark production made for an addictive listening experience. Luckily for me, Primary Wave signee Jenaux has taken a break from his trance production and breathed new energy into the love song "One Last Time." You may be familiar with Jenaux from his previous alias Huge Euge, winning the "Richard Durand vs. The World Contest," or his co-production credit with Durand on "Signs." On "One Last Time" Jenaux completely restructures the record, oscillating between full House sounds and Young's chilling vocals. The track is stripped and rebuilt several times with the House end becoming fuller and the vocal side becoming all the more stark. For me, the highlight of the tune was the marriage of Young's vocals and Jenaux's reserved guitar/drum production from 0:33 to 1:37, which immediately transitioned into the dirtiest synth I've heard in a minute with a pulsing House energy. If you can, Catch Jenaux at Finale or any of the other major nightclubs around New York City.
You can catch Jaymes Young on tour with London Grammar here.
