As this year’s summer madness finally comes to its cooling point, Eglo Records’ striving artist, Fatima, delivers a perfectly timed EP titled Circle, packed with a whole bunch of soul, beats, and Zen that'll put you at ease. Serving as the first teaser for her forthcoming debut album, the EP makes a solid album first-impression. Vivacious and elegant, the Swedish born and now London based artist crafts an earnest R&B sound with her vocals and rifts that has earned her constant comparisons with Erykah Badu among others.
In the track title"Circle", we find Fatima working alongside LA based producer Computer Jay—a clever and fun beat maker. His approach to music in general has a one-of-a-kind scientific specialty that reflects greatly here. The ruggedness of the beats along with Fatima’s softer vocals form a perfect balance that complement each other all the way through. A song with both a melancholic and hopeful feel to it, Fatima’s lyrics will have you taking a meaningful look within with enriched perspective. Adding support on chorus vocals are Jay Computer and Shafiq Husayn who both lift the track to another realm. “Technology”, the second track from this release that feautures Oh No, works as a bluesy-inspired song back-boned by a gorgeous stand-up bass melody I cannot get enough of. Short and sweet at length, Fatima makes another simplistically beautiful track perfect for those afternoon hours of idleness when you just want to lay out and gaze at the sky.
You can purchase Circle digitally or on vinyl with an exclusive live track on the 12" release titled "Red Light". With no set date on her debut album yet, I hope we get another single (or the full thing) before the end of the year, because I can definitely use another warming dose of Fatima’s serenity and I’m sure you can too.
