With the new EP "Message Through Meadows," a four-track release recorded between 2024 and 2025, Ychabods invites you into a world of reflection, imagination, and social awareness. The EP showcases the band's ability to blend introspective storytelling with deeper observations of humanity.
The project was co-produced by Mario Selecky, Martin Molnar, and Robert "Brucky" Bruckmayer, who also mixed and mastered it, and is a carefully crafted experience grounded in powerful concepts and immersive production. The EP opens with "Time Traveller," a cinematic intro that recalls Black Sabbath's "Iron Man." The song is about a being outside of time, watching the greatest and most horrible things mankind has done. The dramatic feeling and the reflective narration compel you to think of history not only as the past but also as a guide to a better future.
"Purple Man" picks up the story, looking at influence, control, and resistance in a darker light. Inspired by the Marvel Comics villain with mind-control abilities, the track features layers of instrumentation and an unusual drum-driven arrangement that builds tension as the battle for personal freedom unfolds. "Good Times" is a journey of seeking happiness and purpose in uncertain times, a relatable reminder of the significance of everyday experiences.
The EP closes with "Tzar's Bloody Rodeo," a powerful statement on leadership, conflict, and the consequences of unchecked power. The song is about a person who loves chaos but remains detached from its consequences, leaving the listener with a chilling final thought. Ychabods' "Message Through Meadows" is a must-listen for those in the alternative realm, progressive sounds, and artists who use music to open up space for deeper discussions.
