Manchester-based alt rock quartet MALCOM unveil debut EP Step Out Of The Light, a bold, confident, genre-bending collection that showcases the band's versatility across four striking tracks.
Led by their vibrant blend of rock, early 00’s indie and 90’s alternative influences, the EP weaves guitar-led arrangements with enchanting harmonica to create a listening experience that's intimate and expansive in equal parts. From the punchy notes of "Hard Working Blues," and the gritty undertones of "Running," to the intimate, stripped-back stylings of "Silver Tongue," the project shift seamlessly from dark, foreboding moments into soaring choruses laden with raw energy.
Speaking about the EP the band explains: “The EP was recorded in about 2 weeks in an underground studio in the centre of Manchester, where we could really escape from reality and focus on writing and recording our songs. This EP as the title ‘Step Out Of The Light’ suggests, is about finding our own sound and coming forward with something that is truly us! Not just following the trends. With nods to bands we love littered throughout like The Black Keys, Dr Feelgood and The Killers, we feel it stays original through elements like the raucous harmonica and unique guitar tones cutting through.”
Consisting go Belfast-born frontman Caz Donaghy, alongside twin brothers Evan and Max Morgan and Alfie Summersgill , MALCOM have crafted a cohesive, emotionally charged signature sound that's loaded with free-flowing musical synergy as they carve out a space as an act to watch.
